The i-SMaT program is developed based on the principle of sustainable development goals (SDGs)
The i-SMaT program is committed to cultivating exceptional researchers and industry leaders who possess deep expertise in sustainable materials and cutting-edge technologies. Our mission is to bridge Thailand's abundant natural resources with Japan's advanced technological capabilities, creating innovative solutions that address pressing industrial challenges and societal needs.
We are strategically positioned to prepare the next generation of professionals for the rapidly growing Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economy, ensuring our graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills to thrive in this transformative sector that aligns with Thailand's national development agenda.
Our three-year doctoral program provides students with unparalleled international research experience, including a minimum of one year conducting research at our partner institution. Students benefit from dual supervision by distinguished faculty from both Chulalongkorn University (Thailand) and Nagoya University (Japan), ensuring exposure to diverse research methodologies and cultural perspectives.
The program emphasizes active participation in collaborative international research projects and attendance at global seminars focused on sustainable materials and technology. Students also gain valuable industry insights through visits to leading companies in both countries, providing real-world context for their academic studies.
In our rapidly evolving technological landscape, the i-SMaT program positions students at the forefront of sustainable materials innovation. Students engage in specialized research projects aligned with their interests, supported by mentors who have access to cutting-edge research through extensive local and international collaborations.
The program maintains high academic standards, requiring students to publish two original research papers in Web of Science-indexed journals, ensuring their contributions advance the field while building their professional reputation in the global research community.
